Czech Republic — October 31, 2025 — Throughout the month, the Volunteer Ministers of the Church of Scientology came together in cities throughout the Czech Republic to clean up parks and streets, aid community organizations, and foster a stronger public engagement in 4 key cities — Prague; Brno; Plzeň; and Pelhřimov.
In just four weeks, they carried out more than forty activities, mobilizing countless hours of service in eco-friendly and charitable efforts based on L. Ron Hubbard’s “The Way to Happiness”, the practical moral code created by L. Ron Hubbard.
Teamwork That Delivers Results
Weekly, 15–20 volunteers worked together in 11+ local projects, logging over 100 hours of volunteer time — plus another 100 hours for a major restoration effort in Brno.
That one-time initiative filled 150 sacks of litter, converting abandoned areas into accessible parks. In Plzeň, teams tackled an abandoned forest site left dirty and hazardous after temporary encampments, disposing of dangerous waste with care and respect.
“It’s not flashy labor,” one volunteer said. “If not us, then who? Every cleanup is about restoring dignity — to our environment, our neighbors, and our own sense of purpose.”
Cooperation Beyond Boundaries
The month also featured practical ecumenical partnership. Volunteers collected and delivered clothing donations to a Catholic charity, reflecting a commitment to unity that goes beyond religious affiliation.
Mr. Arjona, the Church of Scientology’s representative to the European Union, OSCE, Council of Europe and United Nations, spoke about the broader meaning of such volunteerism:
“Support knows no borders. Whether partnering with a religious group, a municipal department, or a person facing hardship, our volunteers live by the belief that a healthier community is built by individuals who care — those who take initiative and show compassion.”
A Legacy of Helping
Launched by Hubbard in the seventies, the VM initiative trains people with practical skills to offer help and stability in crisis or everyday challenges. Known globally for disaster relief and community programs, these yellow-shirted volunteers are active today in over 120 countries.
In the Czech Republic, their commitment to local action continues to grow, combining efficient planning with moral values. Their long-standing motto — “There’s always a solution” — speaks to citizens seeking constructive ways to make a difference locally.

Numerous Czech volunteers also distribute the “The Way to Happiness” booklet during their activities. Designed as a non-religious ethics manual, it offers 21 precepts supporting self-respect, truthfulness, and environmental responsibility — principles reflected by the team’s regular projects.
These small but consistent actions illustrate how ethical education and community involvement reinforce each other. “When people take personal responsibility, society becomes stronger and more compassionate,” Arjona remarked.
Local Appreciation and Continuing Momentum
Local authorities in Prague, Brno and other cities have recognized the Volunteer Ministers’ consistent efforts. Their on-the-ground work — whether tidying walkways to maintaining parks — has motivated community members to participate in or initiate their independent projects.
One participant summed up the experience simply: “No one else was stepping up — so we did.”
